One has joined a number of leading names from the north west advertising, PR and digital media communities who are backing this year’s How-Do awards.

The agency has signed up to sponsor the category for best media website.

Seven sites have made the final shortlist. They are the Blackpool Gazette, Crain’s Manchester, TheBusinessDesk.com, Manchester Evening News, Salford Online, lancashiretelegraph.co.uk and The Bolton News.

One Head of Digital Jonathan Ward said: “The best media website category is getting more important every year, with so many people choosing to take their news online these days.

“There are some excellent sites on this final shortlist and I’m looking forward to seeing which one gets the vote from the How-Do panel of judges.”

The category winner will be announced at an awards ceremony being held at The Palace Hotel in Manchester on Thursday 29th April. The event is being hosted by Jim Hancock and the guest speaker on the night will be Robert Shrimsley, the managing editor of ft.com

One launched its first advertising campaign this month. The agency has teamed up with leading business-to-business publication North West Business Insider to introduce the One brand to new audiences.

The campaign, which supports the agency’s public relations, advertising and digital divisions, runs across traditional and new media platforms with ads appearing in North West Business Insider magazine every month and in daily email bulletins issued by the Insider editorial team to business leaders across Manchester and the North West.

One managing director Graeme Wood said: “We’ve had a good start to 2010 in terms of business won and new projects being awarded to the agency but a sustained profile is crucial to our continued success.”

This current advertising campaign runs alongside the PR and digital campaigns that One already has in place.
