One celebrates innovation

Demonstrating our dedication to innovation, One sponsored the SOME comms awards ‘innovation category’, which recognises social media innovation in the development or use of a platform or app. The awards have been launched to celebrate the best in UK social media communications and recognise the individuals, companies and organisations who are revolutionising the use of online to communicate in cool and innovative ways.

The ceremony was held at The Hilton, Manchester on Thursday 9th December.

Cape Town Capers

Pete Johnston, Creative Director at One, flew to Cape Town for the Spring/Summer 2011 catalogue shoot for footwear and accessories client Hotter.  After he had developed the concepts, identified locations and organised models and props, he spent two weeks directing the location shoot in the perfect photographic conditions of South Africa.

It wasn’t all fun in the sun for Pete and the crew of seven, who experienced two days of rain and mist causing the shoot to be delayed. The crew also had a close encounter – while on location they discovered one of the continent’s native creatures, the Harpactirinae (commonly known as the baboon spider). Luckily for Pete, a colleague warned him before he experienced its strong venom and painful bite but not before he screamed ‘I’m a Creative Director Get Me Out Of Here’! We are pleased to announce he has safely returned to the office with a collection of great shots and an even better tan.

Thanks to expertise in the kitchen and bathroom arena, One’s advertising team was tasked with supplying promotional material, banners, giveaways and all the advertising for BCG’s Big Tour, the UK’s only touring Kitchen and Bathroom exhibition, and its charity gala dinner, ‘The Essential Night Out’.

One travels with BCG's Big Tour

The campaign included 3 stages of advertising, electronic and postal DM, literature, graphics, signage, giveaways and website development culminating in the charity gala dinner, ‘The Essential Night Out’.

With major venues in Glasgow, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and London, One delivered a completely integrated marketing approach to ensure the client’s marketing and commercial objectives were met in all locations and to support the Big Tour’s mission of being ‘The Kitchen and Bathroom Event of the Year’.

After reaching the finishing line on 18th November at Mercedes Benz World, BCG, in association with Essential KBB Magazine, hosted a spectacular charity gala dinner ‘The Essential Night Out’ in aid of Action for Children. The Essential Night Out successfully raised donations to make a difference to the lives of over 600 children in the UK.

One Marketing Communications future is full of Eastern Promise after picking up the integrated creative account for Middle East based Client Institute of International Research (IIR), part of the Informa group of companies.

As a leading conference and event operator, IIR has tasked One Marketing with branding and promoting their key events including Power & Water and Gulf Traffic. The integrated creative approach will include branding, advertising, direct mail, website design and build and e-marketing.

Operating in the Middle East, IIR is the leading event organiser for industry led exhibitions directed at public sector employees catering for in excess of 1,000 people at each event. One has been tasked with delivering an integrated creative approach including branding, advertising, direct mail, website design and build and e-marketing.

Link Romania Christmas Shoebox appeal

One is supporting Link Romania’s Christmas shoebox appeal this year.

The annual Appeal has been running since 1992 and has delivered smiles to thousands of people in Eastern Europe over the years with over 450,000 shoeboxes being delivered to over 80 different locations.

Family Shoeboxes of gifts are given to families who often have to make a choice between buying food or fuel at Christmas time and where buying presents is just not a priority. Many of these families do not have running water, heating or electricity. Some live in appalling conditions, often living in just one or two rooms, and life for them is a real struggle to survive.

This year, One is getting involved by encouraging its staff to donate a shoebox and by being an official collection point for Link Romania’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal.

One’s Claudia Manns explained: “Just pack up a shoebox to send as a Christmas gift to a desperately poor family in Eastern Europe. You can fill it with toys, toiletries, sweets, hats and gloves – everything will be gratefully received.”

The shoeboxes will be distributed to many different locations, from remote villages, to hospital wards, to charity kindergartens and shanty towns.
